Program: Physics Department Summer Programs for High School Students
Description: The Physics Department at Alabama A&M University invites local high school students to apply for two summer programs. These programs are for U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The programs, funded through the National Science Foundation, cover “Design, Fabrication, and Characterization of Multifunctional Ceramic Devices and Materials.” The first program, Workshop on Nanoscience & Technology, is for 10th and 11th graders and runs July 24-27. There are ten (10) positions available. Students will receive $200 for participating in this workshop.

Description: High-achieving high school juniors can now apply for The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results (SOAR) HBCU Scholars Program. The program is a joint partnership with TMCF, Alabama A&M University and J.F. Drake State Community & Technical College.

Albany State University (ASU)
Description: In this two-week sponsored NASA camp, participating students will explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The ARTEMIS Precollege Summer Institute offers active, hands-on learning in STEM, and college preparation and career-based mentoring.
ASU students, faculty, and staff organize a week of creative activities and lessons incorporating science into the daily curricula, including flying UAVs (drones), launching rockets, microcontrollers, and chemistry. Students will also participate in a week-long Data Science and Artificial Intelligence workshop hosted in part by Wells Fargo.

Description: High Ability offers an accelerated program for high school juniors who have exemplified outstanding academic achievement. High Ability gives students a commanding lead toward independence, responsibility, and scholarship opportunities. Participants will earn a total of six (6) credit hours during the summer.
Courses taken by HA students include, but are not limited, to English, mathematics, science, and history. Other courses are selected based on interests and fields of study.
